When green thumbs run in the family, owning a plant business just comes naturally!
Brothers-in-law Ken Lapp and Norman Glick founded Ken’s Gardens in 1972 in Intercourse, Pennsylvania. Growing vegetables, herbs, annuals and perennials, they transported their quality plants to sell at downtown farmers markets in the tri-state area. As the years progressed and Ken’s Gardens grew, two retail locations were opened in Intercourse and Smoketown.
Eventually, Ken and Norman began selling their plants to the wholesale market and expanded both of their garden center facilities. By 1990, their retail business had become so successful, they decided to drop the wholesale side and focus solely on quality plants for retail.
In 2004, Ken and Norman’s children took over the business. Today, more than 40 years later, Ken’s Gardens continues its family commitment to offering the finest quality plants at affordable prices.
