Smoketown Store Front in the Fall

Lancaster’s Only True Garden Center

With more than 40 years of quality growing experience, Ken’s Gardens has something for everyone—from the garden novice, to the weekend weed warrior, to the Master Gardener. In addition to the Lancaster area, our convenient locations also serve Chester County and the Main Line.

Explore our greenhouses and garden centers and discover hundreds of beautiful ways to bring your landscape to life. Unlike many plant retailers, we grow the majority of our own plants to ensure their quality and health. We offer a great selection of these own-grown plants along with other popular brands.

Find inspiration for decorating your indoor and outdoor spaces with color—as well as all the plants and garden essentials you’ll find on popular home and gardening TV shows. We can even recommend dependable local landscapers to do all the work for you.

At Ken’s Gardens, we have everything you need to help you enjoy natural color and flowering beauty throughout the seasons.

When green thumbs run in the family, owning a plant business just comes naturally!

Brothers-in-law Ken Lapp and Norman Glick founded Ken’s Gardens in 1972 in Intercourse, Pennsylvania. Growing vegetables, herbs, annuals and perennials, they transported their quality plants to sell at downtown farmers markets in the tri-state area. As the years progressed and Ken’s Gardens grew, two retail locations were opened in Intercourse and Smoketown.

Eventually, Ken and Norman began selling their plants to the wholesale market and expanded both of their garden center facilities. By 1990, their retail business had become so successful, they decided to drop the wholesale side and focus solely on quality plants for retail.

In 2004, Ken and Norman’s children took over the business. Today, more than 40 years later, Ken’s Gardens continues its family commitment to offering the finest quality plants at affordable prices.
